We develop sustainable, on-ground solutions to enable Internet access in India’s most challenging environments.
Our Initiatives
Community broadband activation, micro-distribution of Internet, last mile connectivity to schools in rural areas
Community Broadband Activation
Empowering local communities to create and manage their own broadband Internet
In India’s remotest corners lies a desperate need for connectivity. Muft Internet bridges this gap through by training local communities to deploy their own community broadband network.
With over 200 villages connected with broadband, we bring internet to schools and communities left behind. Students access learning, teachers share resources, and families stay connected.
Despite progress, about 25000+ villages still lack connectivity, leaving many without internet access.
Our active sites are located in hard to reach border towns and villages around North East India and Ladakh.

Muft WiFi Hotspot Software
Open Source Captive Portal Software for distribution of public WiFi
Muft Internet’s first project was the development of an open-source solution for captive portal monetization through ads or voucher sales.
This initiative aimed to empower ISPs and establishments—including schools, hospitals, cafes, hotels, and businesses—to offer Internet access via free or paid WiFi hotspots.
The aim was to design WiFi management software with tools to control usage, generate vouchers or display ads on captive portal.
The result was Muft WiFi Hotspot Management Software (GPL), featuring a Radius (AAA) system with SMS-OTP-based authentication.
By simplifying and enhancing public WiFi distribution, Muft WiFi Management Software has enabled over 20 ISP operators and 200+ establishments to expand connectivity and reduce the digital divide across India.
Micro-distribution of Internet
Turning small shops into WiFi Internet service provider Prepaid Vouchers
After developing Muft WiFi Management Software, we partnered with Hybrid Internet (Internet Service Provider) to revolutionize Internet accessibility in India by focusing on micro-distribution and paving the way for more affordable connectivity.
Through the sale of access code vouchers, starting at just ₹10 per day, we empower small shops and street-food vendors to become WiFi Internet service providers, effectively transforming them into low-cost cyber cafes.
This initiative has already connected over 200,000 users in India, offering a significantly more affordable alternative to traditional monthly Internet plans.
Last Mile Connectivity
Bringing last mile connectivity with rural broadband to remote communities that have been denied service by all telcos.
Since 2020, our team has embarked on a seven-month road trip every year to some of the most remote and underserved parts of India—border villages and towns that remain disconnected from the world.
These are places where Airtel, Jio, and BSNL have yet to provide even basic cell phone coverage. In these isolated regions, the challenges of bringing connectivity are immense.
From harsh weather conditions to a lack of government-supported electricity grids, unreliable roads, and minimal infrastructure, every connection ensures forgotten communities take their first steps toward digital inclusion.
